Christian Education Ministry

Faith United Methodist Church is committed to a spiritually based and age-appropriate Christian Education Ministry that includes Sunday School for Children, Adults and Youth as well as Nursery Care, Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School.  Brief descriptions of each of these components of Christian Education at Faith Church are described below.

Children’s Sunday School

All of our Children’s Sunday School classes meet every Sunday (including the summer) from 9:30-10:30 am. Talented leaders use fun, interactive lessons from the latest Hands-On Bible curriculum to help youngsters create, build, and strengthen their relationship with Jesus.  In addition, each class has a specific learning objective for our Children’s Day Program in May.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church occurs during the second half of the 10:45 am Worship service, following the Children’s Moment, for all children in Pre-K (age 4 yrs) to 2nd grade. Qualified adults lead children in Biblically based activities, crafts or games.  Children’s Church meets in Room 22/23.

Youth Sunday School

Youth Sunday School classes meet every Sunday (including the summer) from 9:30-10:30 am.  Dedicated leaders use various resources to help pre-teens and teens understand and practice a Christian lifestyle.

Safe Sanctuary Policy
To protect our children and youth, Faith United Methodist Church has adopted a Safe Sanctuary policy that requires all persons working with children and youth to have background clearances and to demonstrate minimum requirements.  A copy of the policy is available for review in the church office.

Adult Sunday School
Six Adult Sunday School classes address a variety of topics related to Christian life. New friends are warmly welcomed to enjoy our fellowship and learning every Sunday from 9:30-10:30 am in the Adult Education Wing.

Nursery Care
To help parents of young children attend Adult Sunday School classes and worship services Nursery Care is available.  During the 9:30 to 10:30 am Sunday School hour, qualified adults supervise children under three (3) years of age in a safe, child friendly classroom, Room 6.  During the 8:15 and 10:45 am services, qualified adults, and youth helpers, lovingly care for infants and children under four (4) years of age in Room 7.  Nursery supervisors rotate on a schedule and are listed in the bulletins each Sunday.

Vacation Bible School

Children, ages 3 to fifth grade, have the opportunity to attend a fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School each summer.  Adults and youth lead various activities for a few hours in the evening, as children from Faith Church, and from the Bellefonte community, come to worship Christ through music, games, crafts, snacks and inspiring Bible lessons.
