It celebrates personal discovery and coming of age in a time of challenge and transformation. This is a must- see heartwarming holiday season starter. Experience the joy, triumph and tragedy felt by the March family.
ALIVE’s Artistic Director Drew M. Baker said, “After presenting this show four years ago, we decided last year to bring it back. Following the 2012 performances we were invited to bring the production to Faith Church this December. It thrills me to be able to bring this lovely musical adaptation of this literary classic to our audiences. It’s so full and rich with Louisa May Alcott’s tremendous writings that bring life to this new musical. Come hear the story of the March girls and their family journey through travail and triumph. It is a perfect start for the holiday season!”
The technical elements are brought together beautifully by delightful and elegant costuming, authentic wigs and hair that reflect Civil War America and scenery, to transport the audience back into 1863.
Louisa May Alcott was a prolific writer of more than two hundred stories, sketches, poems, and serials. According to the New York Public Library, Little Women was first published in two volumes (1868 and 1869). It was later published in one combined novel in 1880 and has never been out of print. Little Women has been adapted numerous times for TV, film, and the stage and an operatic version was recorded in 2000.
