The Bellefonte Playschool exists for the purpose of enriching the lives of children. The school provides a supervised environment for the development of socialization skills and for the teaching of basic school-readiness skills. Our highly dedicated staff, with more than 50 years combined teaching experience, believes that learning at the pre-school age is best accomplished through fun, hands-on activities and through play and discovery.

The Bellefonte Playschool follows essentially the same calendar as that of the Bellefonte Area School District , observing the same holidays and vacation periods, except for starting a week later in September and ending before Memorial Day in May. Each class is limited to 12 or 14 students, depending on the classroom, and a certified teacher and an aide expertly lead each class. The Administrative Director and qualified volunteers are available, as needed, to assist with special projects.

The Bellefonte Playschool is an educational branch of Faith United Methodist Church and is governed by an Advisory Board comprised of church members, staff, and parent representatives. The Bellefonte Playschool is also licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of Private Academic Schools. Our license, renewed yearly, mandates that our Educational Director and teachers be approved by the Department of Education in Early Childhood Education and that our curriculum meets certain standards. The Bellefonte Playschool has been licensed since 1972.
